What a country-based QR code is for

If you sell in several countries, each market has its own shop, distributor, prices or language. Printing a different QR code for each country makes packaging more expensive and logistics more complex. With QR Boost's redirect by country, one code takes each person to the right place.

Examples:

  • A food brand: Spain to the Spanish online shop, Mexico to its distributor, and the rest of the world to the international website.
  • An international trade fair: each visitor to their country's version.
  • An app with different store listings per country.
  • A product manual following each market's regulations.

How it works

When someone scans your QR code, we detect the country they're connecting from at that moment and check your rules in order:

  1. Are they in one of the countries in the first rule? → they go to that destination.
  2. In the second rule's countries? → they go to the second destination.
  3. If no rule matches → they go to your main destination (the “rest of the world” one).

You can put several countries in one rule (for example, all Spanish-speaking ones) and as many rules as you need.

How to set it up

  1. Open the editor and set your international page as the main destination.
  2. In Smart destinations, add a “By country” rule.
  3. Search and pick the countries and enter their destination.
  4. Repeat for each market.

Combine it with other rules

  • Country + language: in multilingual countries (Switzerland, Belgium, Canada), add language rules before the country ones.
  • Country + phone: for apps, first the iPhone rule for a specific country, then the general one.
  • Country + schedule: promotions that start at a different local time in each market.

Privacy

We detect the country at the moment of the scan and only use it to choose the destination and add one scan to that country in your stats. We don't store IPs or anything that identifies the scanner.

If the country can't be determined (for example, with some VPNs), your main destination is used.

FAQ

What if someone uses a VPN?

The VPN's country is detected. If none can be determined, they go to your main destination.

Can I put several countries in one rule?

Yes, as many as you like.
